How fantastic was the Northern Open! So many Northern swimmers, so many PBs and so many of our swimmers in the finals> It was a brilliant day and a great end to the season.
Clare Soar, our Club President says:
“The Northern Open was a great success- this was due to the many people who supported us and to all the fantastic parents and helpers who gave their time freely. Many were there from 8am to 8pm.
A special thank you to David Anderson and Joanne Smith who worked tirelessly for many months prior to the Open to make everything possible.
Thanks too to Charlotte Anderson created a scrummy buffet for all the helpers/officials/coaches.
And a big thank you to the officials from many other clubs who gave their time to Northern.
Thank you to you all.
Then on the day the swimmers! I think this is probably my 9th or 10th and I have never seen so many Northern swimmers enter. The PBs were many. I also have never shaken hands with so many Northern finalists, well done. Matthew Anderson has to be congratulated. Matthew won 4 races and came second in one, t his meant he missed being top boy by only one point.
Well done to Sharon and all the coaches for training the swimmers and for making this possible

Michelle would like to hand over the running of the 100 Club to another parent. Club Champs
Looking forward to Club Champs, which will run from 1 November (for more details see next Newsletter or keep a look out on the website). As the Committee has decided to introduce some new races including 800m front crawl and 400m individual medley we are in need of 6 new trophies. If you would like to donate a trophy for these events to be presented to the male and female winners at the Presentation Evening in November races please see Clare Soar.-

The Committee are looking for someone to take over the running of the Club Shop as Rachel would like to hand it over. Please don’t be shy –do volunteer your services. Thank you Rachel for all the time and energy you have given to get the shop running so efficiently.
Coach’s Corner
Galas
We had a great time at the first round of the Development League at Bramcote with a lot of swimmers representing Northern for the first time.
Unfortunately we could not raise a team to go to the Sutton Gala on the 12th of June
Again we were low on swimmers for the second round of the Development League Gala on 3rd of July at Mansfield so we missed out on 16 races
We came 12th in the league.
Nottingham Northern Open Meet
What a Fantastic day! The Club entered 32 swimmers who achieved 73 PBs. 18 times we had swimmers in finals and 21 trophies were won by Northern swimmers.
Our swimmers were on their best behaviour. Well done to all of them!

NNSC Picnic Sunday 1.8.10 at 1pm . Come along to Wollaton Park with your picnic and join us for a munch and a game of Rounders.
